Screen Printing—beginner:Our step by step instructional toward designing and printing your own tees, fabrics, etc. In this class, we'll show you how to use your own image to prepare, burn and print with your own screen. We'll be doing a one color prints in class, but you'll be able to apply what you've learned to so much more. Plus, once you've taken this course you'll be able to sign up to work in our studio any time - only $10/hr!
Hand Embroidery—Any Level:Put your personal touch on everything! Embroidery is an easy (and economical) way to personalize your clothes, accessories and favorite household items. We'll start with an introduction on the tools of the trade then start on a stitch sampler. Practice 6 basic, popular stitches as well as knots. Once comfortable, embroider a take-home dish/kitchen towel. Students will choose from our wide selection of iron-on transfer images.
Sewing 101—Beginner:This class starts at the very beginning and will show you in detail how your machine works! Even if you have some experience, this class is packed with much more than the usual basics. You’ll learn a lot about fabrics and how to measure, cut, pin and sew a pillow cover including ZIPPER installation. No experience necessary and machines available for use in class. ![]() "I've been sewing a long time, and I learned so much!" Patti S. Tote Bag—Beginner:So simple, this tote bag goes anywhere! You'll be the envy of all your friends - until you make them one! Great for the beginner sewer, we'll practice a lot of the basics from 101, along with linings, top stitching and pocket making. Pajama Pants—Beginner:If you think pants are too hard - think again! These are the perfect start to understanding them as well as a basic commercial pattern. We'll cover hems and drawstring while basically getting a handle on those wacky looking pattern pieces. Comfy and cozy - a great gift for guy or gal! (Sewing 101 prerequisite required.)
Short Sleeve Top—Beginner:A warm weather cutie! This adorable versatile top is a great opportunity to practice sleeves, neckline and hemming. Dress up or down with fabric choice.
Easy Alterations—Beginner:Highly recommended for everyone! In this class we'll work on our own clothes! Covers taking in/letting out, different types of hems and hemming jeans as well as giving you tools like adding button holes and sewing on buttons the "right way". (Sewing 101 prerequisite required.)Wristlet—Beginner:It may be small, but it packs a punch full of technique! Lining a bag can be weird - throw a zipper in there and it could be trouble. Learn simple ways to master these tricks and pockets to boot. So versatile, make in any fabric, for any occasion.
Skirt Apron—Beginner:An adorable addition to any kitchen! This skirt apron ties in the back and features a front patch pocket and loop for a hand towel. So easy to customize, we'll work on hems, pockets, binding and gathering.
A-line Skirt—Advanced Beginner:The perfect cut for everyone! We'll work on understanding a commercial pattern as well as zipper installation, hemming and binding. (Materials not included, but available at TNS.)
Messenger Bag—Advanced Beginner:This bag design is so versatile you'll want 12! We'll work on pockets, top stitch, lining, sewing on a curve and more. (Tote Bag prerequisite) '
Hobo Bag—Intermediate:This zippered beauty is so versatile. It's big, easy to carry shape makes it perfect for the gym, yoga class, a weekend away or just everyday! Learn the tricks to installing a zipper in a lined bag, plus sewing curves, topstitching and more. (Tote Bag Prerequisite)
