A: Yes! You can purchase a certificate in any dollar amount or for a specific class. Send us an email (info@theneedleshop.net) with the amount you'd like to spend and we'll send you an invoice. You'll be able to pay online with check or credit card, then we'll send the certificate any where you specify. A: We sure do! Email TNS with what you're interested in learning, availability (date & time) and we'll respond with what is available to suit YOU. » All private classes are $35/hour (for one on one) » Small group rates: 2 or more $25/hour per person A: Well, there is a lot to say on that topic! Here, I'll be brief in saying, if you're new to sewing don't spend a ton on an expensive machine - you may quit after your first lesson! There are plenty of older, well maintained used machines out there. Garage sales, craigslist, classifieds, sewing shops, etc. If you really love sewing and want to 'invest' in something nicer, that's another ball of wax. Generally speaking, Singer, Brother and Kenmore brand machines are safe bets for beginners. Feel free to hit me up for advice on a particular machine when you find one! A: The Singer Shop at 4914 W. A: Sewing 101 starts at the VERY beginning - fear not! You'll learn how to thread the machine, wind the bobbin, and generally how your machine works. Then dive into practice stitching on into constructing a basic pillow with zipper. A: Sewing 101 = If you've never even seen a sewing machine before, or you used a machine once when you were 11, start with this class. Beginner = You have completed Sewing 101 or something comparable. Advanced Beginner = You are comfortable using a sewing machine on your own. You can thread the machine, wind a bobbin, and load a bobbin from memory. You can sew in a straight line and have completed a couple beginner projects.
